Luton International Carnival-the beginning
The town’s first carnival started back in 1976 as a modest Victorian street fair as part of the borough’s centenary celebrations and continued to develop and evolve when in 1998 Luton Carnival acquired international status and in the same year the Luton Carnival Arts Development Trust (now UK centre for Carnival Arts) received the largest single lottery award for carnival development

Whatever the weather the parade must go on!
Thousands of people will be preparing their spectacular costumes, which they hope to show off in this 2010's carnival parade. Many months will have been devoted to planning and designing costumes, rehearsing dance routines as well as decorating colourful extravagant floats to make the procession the best the town has ever seen. For those groups who return year after year, creating costumes that are bigger and better than the previous years takes some beating but they always somehow manage to pull it off developing dazzling breathtaking creations.
